A Crown of Flowers and a Farewell to 2024: Honoring Dani

As I reflect on 2024, one portrait holds the most meaning: Dani’s “Crown of Flowers.” This wasn’t just any portrait; it was her last. Dani had been diagnosed with cancer, and we created this final memory together. She passed just two weeks after our shoot. Yet, her legacy bloomed.

The year began with a silver award at the MTOG Awards. Soon after, it earned honorable mention in the Dog Photography Awards and achieved Silver Distinction at the International Pet Photography Awards. That distinction placed “Crown of Flowers” among the top 100 scoring portraits of the competition. Later in the year, it also earned silver from the WPE Awards. And finally, as 2024 closed, “Crown of Flowers” was honored as Portrait of the Year by MTOG.

If you’d like to see the full Top 100 compilation, watch the video linked below. This portrait is a testament to the bonds we honor. Dani’s memory will always be a crown of love.
